5 Facts you should know about Corona Delta

1. It is more contagious.

The Delta variant is highly contagious, more than 2x as contagious as previous variants. Patients infected with the Delta variant were more likely to be hospitalized than patients infected with Alpha or the original virus that causes COVID-19.

2. You can be infected even if you are vaccinated.

Fully vaccinated people with symptomatic breakthrough infections can transmit the virus to others. Until now, we don't know if fully vaccinated people with asymptomatic breakthrough infections can transmit the virus. Fully vaccinated people will likely spread the virus for less time than unvaccinated people.

3. It's faster than Alpha and the others.

Delta was spreading 50% faster than Alpha, 50% more contagious than the original strain of SARS-CoV-2.

4. If you are not vaccinated until now, hurry up to protect yourself and your family.

The most significant risk of transmission is among unvaccinated people who are much more likely to get infected and transmit the virus. Vaccines in the US are highly effective, including against the Delta variant. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community. High vaccination coverage will reduce the spread of the virus and help prevent new variants from emerging.

5. You should wear a mask even you are vaccinated.

Many health experts across the country are wearing masks themselves even though they're fully vaccinated against COVID-19. They're also advising vaccinated people to avoid large gatherings and mask up indoors where the vaccination status of other people is unknown.
