- Losing weight (if you are overweight)
- Raising the head of your bed 6-8 inches, by simply putting blocks of wood under the legs or a foam wedge under the mattress or using commercial products for this purpose.
- Avoiding foods that trigger symptoms – Such as caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, peppermint, and fatty foods may cause bothersome acid reflux in some people.
- Quitting smoking.
- Avoiding late meals – plan your meals for at least two to three hours before bedtime.
- Wearing loose, comfortable clothing.
